Since folks keep asking, thought I’d post a quick update. Dan’s initial back injury is much improved (you saw evidence he was up and about and even painting), but he’s been having trouble with a nerve in his leg (related to the injury), causing him a lot of pain. His doctor (as of today) suspects a herniated disc and wants to do an MRI. Dan’s decided to do another round of physical therapy first. He also got in trouble with his doctor for “working on the house” in this condition, especially when Dan admitted that “not much” lifting could mean 50 or 60 pounds. Dan was forbidden from painting or laying floors or doing any home remodeling, so the rest of the basement will have to wait. I can probably paint the walls and do some trim work, but we won’t make much progress after that until Dan’s back situation is resolved.
about us
We created this blog to keep friends and family updated about our adoption journey and to share our adventures with other adoptive families. Little did we know that our plans to adopt from Ethiopia would lead us to our son right here in the USA. We'll continue to share our adventures with Baby Joe as well as our continuing saga of growing our family. Comments are warmly welcomed. -Dan and Shannon

Sorry about Dans back.
Recall if you can when we met in your home state?
I had the nerve leg pain?
I got the call from the Docotors that the disc was indeed herniated in my hotel lobby!
My sciatica nerve in my left leg is scarred forevah!
Why?? from waiting to long to have the herniated disc surgery.
Yes surgery was my only option at that point. Please Shannon, don’t let Dan try to tough it out as I did for a year.
The leg hurts right now as I sit and type, sleeping is difficult andn akward at best!
It wil hurt forever and I mean badly. It truly interferes witheverythginI do, even carrying aload of laundry.
I still went to the Y.
Idid the PT…
Please have him do the MRI ASAP>>.
To save himself from potential permanent nerve damage..
Hey, on another note good luck with Joe and finding the skin color you want in the proffessionals you seek. My ob/gyn is the man for you! He is soft sweet gentle and he is a wonfderful man of color. We also have many Indians doctors here as well. You can find them :}
